Weintek Advances Sustainability with Full-Line Carbon Footprint Assessment

As governments worldwide introduce measures to reduce carbon emissions, carbon management has become increasingly important to business operations and supply chains. Committed to sustainable manufacturing, Weintek completed a carbon footprint assessment across its full product line in September 2026, tracking carbon emissions (CO₂e) from raw material acquisition through finished product manufacturing.

The assessment covers the following product categories:

HMI and Panel Products

Gateways, I/O Modules, and Peripheral Products

Carbon Footprint Assessment Based on ISO Standards

Weintek's carbon footprint assessment follows ISO 14067:2018 and adopts a cradle-to-gate system boundary. It calculates greenhouse gas emissions from upstream raw material acquisition through manufacturing and packaging before the finished product leaves the factory. (Distribution and sales, customer use, and end-of-life disposal are excluded from the assessment.)

Each data record is retained for at least five years to support future tracking and verification. Data quality is also evaluated using a Pedigree Matrix across five dimensions: reliability, completeness, time relevance, geographic relevance, and technical relevance. Each dimension is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, providing a consistent and traceable basis for data management.

Building Sustainability Competitiveness

Carbon management frameworks continue to evolve worldwide. The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entered its transitional phase in 2023, with full implementation beginning in 2026 for covered carbon-intensive sectors. Taiwan has also incorporated its 2050 net-zero emissions target into the Climate Change Response Act, aligning its climate policy with international trends.

As regulatory requirements and supply chains increasingly call for carbon-related information, this assessment enables Weintek to:

  • Identify Emission Hotspots and Prioritize Improvements

Analyze emissions from raw materials, transportation, manufacturing, and other stages to identify major emission sources and guide future carbon reduction initiatives.

  • Meet Customer and Supply Chain Carbon Data Needs

Establish consistent and traceable product carbon footprint data to support customer sustainability questionnaires, supply chain assessments, and carbon disclosure requirements, while improving communication in global collaboration.

  • Establish a Continuous Carbon Management Process

Use the assessment results as a baseline and update data over time to compare year-over-year emissions and evaluate the effectiveness of improvement measures, providing measurable and traceable data for ongoing carbon reduction efforts.

Looking Ahead

Completing the product carbon footprint assessment marks an important starting point for Weintek's carbon management efforts. Building on these results, Weintek will evaluate alternatives to carbon-intensive materials, optimize raw material transportation, and review energy and resource efficiency at its manufacturing facilities. These efforts will support the gradual development of practical carbon reduction measures.
